Medical Reserve Corps
of Larimer County
The Medical Reserve Corps of Larimer County is a volunteer organization of health and medical professionals, and other interested persons, organized to enhance the county's emergency response capacity and trained to respond to public health emergencies, and to improve the community's health through participation in selected public health programs and campaigns.
We recommend that volunteers attend at least two of the four training sessions held annually (see "News & Training Opportunities" link above) or complete online equivalents. Our goal is to prepare all our volunteers to effectively respond to disasters or public health emergencies under the supervision of our sponsoring agency, Larimer County Department of Health and Environment. See http://www.larimer.org/health for more information. In addition to training, we hope to improve the health of our community through participation in non-emergency events such as:
- Emergency preparedness classes especially geared
for adults, youth, families and pet
- Assisting the American Red Cross with special
needs shelters
- Preparedness drills with other local responders
- Medical aid at community events
- Immunization clinics or mass vaccination clinics
(such as H1N1 and CSU meningococcal vaccination clinics)
- Participation in health screenings
- Education on public health topics
- Cross training with local hospitals and mental health emergency responders
We welcome all volunteers, including licensed health professionals, retired health professionals and all others interested in training to respond to public health emergencies and other disasters.
We are assessing Larimer County Department of Health and Environment programs and services to determine opportunities for ongoing MRC involvement.
