Medical Reserve Corps
of Larimer County
The Medical Reserve Corps of Larimer County is a volunteer organization of health and medical professionals, and other interested persons, organized to enhance the county's emergency response capacity and trained to respond to public health emergencies, and to improve the community's health through participation in selected public health programs and campaigns.

Our unit, which is an all-volunteer-led unit, currently has about 50 volunteers. We require volunteers to register with the Colorado Volunteer Mobilizer (CVM) system and to complete the mandated training for the CVM (IS 100 and IS 700). Attendance at our unit's training sessions is also required; we require volunteers to attend in person or complete online equivalents for at least two of the four training sessions held annually (see "News & Training Opportunities" link above).  Our goal is to prepare all our volunteers to effectively respond to disasters under the supervision of our sponsoring agency - the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment - or the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Volunteer Mobilizer System. In addition to training, we hope to improve the health of our community through participation in non-emergency events.
These non-emergency opportunities may include:
  •    emergency preparedness classes especially geared
for adults, youth, families and pets
  •    assisting the American Red Cross with special
       needs shelters
  •    preparedness drills with other local responders
  •    medical aid at community events
  •    immunization clinics
  •    participation in health screening
  •    education on public health topics

We welcome all volunteers, including licensed health professionals, retired health professionals and all others interested in training  to respond to public health emergencies and other disasters.
